STANFORD, Calif. — Every November, the Stanford Cardinals and Cal Bears battle it out on the football field in the Big Game, and the universities’ respective blood centers have a big competition of their own, too.

This year, the public is being asked to come out and join the competition by donating blood, as Stanford Blood Center goes for its 9th win in a row over Cal.

“As a bonus, all presenting donors will receive a commemorative ‘Rivals 4 Life’ T-shirt,” said Stanford Blood Center spokesperson, Loren Magaña. “Donors will also have the great feeling of knowing they can potentially help up to three patients in need with just one donation.”

This year’s battle for blood takes place on Tuesday, November 15, from 10:00 a.m. – 6:00 p.m. at Stanford University, Arrillaga Center for Sports and Recreation (basketball courts), 341 Galvez Street (corner of Galvez & Campus Drive), Stanford, CA 94305.

Donors are encouraged to make an appointment ahead of time because this is a very popular blood drive. To schedule an appointment for the Rivals for Life Blood Drive visit: sbcdonor.org or call 888-723-7831.
