Help Stanford Blood Center and Lucile Packard Children’s Hospital Stanford Send Deserving Kids to Summer Camp

STANFORD, Calif.− Stanford Blood Center (SBC) is partnering with the Annual Solid Organ Transplant Camp by Lucile Packard Children’s Hospital Stanford to help send 50 pediatric transplant recipients to camp.

“Providing a summer camp for children with chronic illness is very important to their healing process,” said Kirsten Cotton-Sheldon, recreational therapy and child life specialist with Packard Children’s, “and we believe these campers can experience a type of healing that is only found in nature.”

SBC will make a contribution towards the camp for every donor who donates blood
August 22nd — September 3rd at one of SBC’s centers or mobile blood drives.

“This camp offers transplant recipients a chance to be a kid not just a patient,” said Loren Magaña, spokesperson for SBC, “and it provides them the unique chance to meet others like themselves who have gone through similar experiences.”
