Stanford Blood Center Partners with Bay Area Cancer Connections to Boost Winter Blood Supply

STANFORD, Calif. — Stanford Blood Center (SBC) is partnering with Bay Area Cancer Connections (BCC) as part of the center’s fourth annual “Give Good” campaign this winter. For each donor who rolls up their sleeve December 12–24, SBC will make a donation to help support patients touched by breast and ovarian cancer.

“Because most cancer treatments cause low blood counts, patients often require life-saving blood products during treatment,” said Harpreet Sandhu, SBC’s Executive Director. “That’s why donating blood is a great way to support cancer patients in our community.”

This year’s campaign will take place at all centers and mobile blood drives. On Monday, December 12 from 10:00AM–3:00PM, SBC will hold a mobile blood drive at 2335 El Camino Real in Palo Alto, near BCC’s offices.

“BCC is proud to partner with SBC for this year’s Give Good campaign,” said Rina Bello, Executive Director for Bay Area Cancer Connections. “It’s important to have the support of our community to ensure that we can continue to provide free services and support for those facing cancer.”

Wintertime is an especially difficult time to maintain adequate supplies of blood because people are often unavailable, traveling or ill.
