Support Research by Donating White Blood Cells

APPLY TO PARTICIPATE

To further research and development in the biomedical sciences, Stanford Blood Center is currently supporting a research initiative which requires collecting a particular white blood cell donation from healthy participants using apheresis (automated blood collection).

Healthy adults between 18-40 years of age are invited to participate. Given the time commitment required, you will be compensated up to $2,000 for your participation in this research protocol.

For some types of research, especially in the field of cellular and gene therapy, white blood cells must be collected from healthy donors who have been given a special stimulating medication to help collect more cells during the procedure. Some examples of research initiatives currently using these cells are the development of new gene therapies to cure sickle cell disease and cell therapies to prevent rejection of organ transplants.

If you are interested in learning more, please review the Information Sheet below outlining some of the research protocol’s requirements and contact us at specialdonations@stanford.edu or 650-723-6667.
