I donated 1st when I was 18 years old because I felt it was the right thing to do. I was young, healthy, and able to do so to help others! My parents always let me know I had a popular blood type (O) — always in demand.
I still donate, especially here at Stanford because I work here. Specifically, I work at LPCH in the Peds Hem/Onc Department. I see and meet many children who need daily or weekly blood products. I want to help them and help Stanford continue its research and providing world class care to Peds cancer patients.
