Give Good Puzzle magnetEach winter, blood centers struggle to maintain adequate supplies of blood products to meet patient needs. With the holidays come travels plans, festive engagements, and the flu, which often cause significant declines in blood donations. With the needs of our local patients and donors our number one priority, Stanford Blood Center (SBC) started a new campaign last year to encourage donors to not just come in to give during this joyous though busy season, but to also make their donation count twice!

The “Give Good” campaign allows donors the opportunity to support a local organization at the same time they are supporting local patients in our community. Last year, SBC partnered with the Humane Society of Silicon Valley (HSSV) and for each donor that visited a center or mobile during the campaign, a donation went to HSSV to cover the cost of a vaccination for a needy pet. The campaign was an amazing success, thanks to our generous donors. SBC saw 3,224 donors and was able to provide more than 3,000 vaccines to pets in need.

This year, SBC is excited to partner with Bay Area based organization, BayKids Studios, whose mission is to help children facing long-term hospitalization heal through the power of filmmaking.

From December 15-28, become an executive producer of a pediatric patient’s short film by donating blood! For every donor that rolls up his or her sleeve during the campaign, we will make a donation to help fund a patient film.
