A Couple’s Journey to 100 Donations
Donating blood has become part of the rhythm of Eileen and Michael Consiglio’s lives, and something they share together. The couple, who regularly donate at our South Bay center, recently reached their 100th whole blood donation, an incredible milestone reflecting years of dedication and generosity.
Both Eileen and Michael have been longtime donors. Eileen recalls her first donation in high school, when she fainted and had to be helped to a cot, but she kept going anyway! Michael got started with his Penn State alumni group when they organized a trip to Stanford to give blood together. It wasn’t until about five years ago that they began donating side by side. With convenient Sunday hours and a shared commitment to giving back, they made it a goal to donate regularly, turning individual acts of generosity into a shared experience.
When they reached their 100th donation, the moment was celebrated with the Stanford Blood Center team, who marked the occasion with photos and recognition. For the Consiglios, however, the reason they keep coming back is simple. “It’s something good to do,” Michael says. “It’s helping people survive or get over an illness.”

Eileen encourages others to consider donating, even if they feel unsure. “Your body regenerates the blood, and you won’t miss it,” she says. “So why not give it a try?”
As they look ahead to their next milestone, Eileen and Michael’s story is a reminder that blood donation is more than a single act. It’s a lasting commitment that can make a difference, one donation at a time.
