Medications
While many people assume that they are ineligible to donate blood if they take medications, this is simply not the case! While some medications would preclude you from donating, most medications — even those prescribed by a doctor — pose no threat to you or patients as part of the blood donation process.
There are only a select number of medications that prevent you from donating. Review the list of these medications here to see if you’re eligible to give blood and support local patients in need!
Note that the deferral periods for these medications vary, so feel free to call our Resource Nurse at 650- 725-7336 if you’d like to further discuss your medication or any other health condition that may affect your ability to donate.
