Karen Hendryk
Karen Hendryk is Donor Recruitment Manager at Stanford Blood Center (SBC). Karen began her blood banking career in 2004 and has been in her current position since 2009. Prior to joining the blood banking industry, Karen worked for the solid organ and tissue transplant organization, Northern California Transplant Bank, where she worked with donor families. During that time, she immediately recognized that she had found a career that inspired her. The idea of helping others by connecting donors and patients motivated her in a way she had not experienced before.
At SBC, Karen’s responsibilities include overseeing the Special Donations department, where specific donors are recruited for matching blood products to patients who need very unique or rare blood products. In addition to this work, Karen is responsible for developing strategies to ensure consistent blood collection in both the mobile and donor center recruitment settings.
A Bay Area native, Karen grew up in Santa Clara and is proud that her work at SBC supports the community she grew up in. When she is not working hard, Karen loves spending time with her family, gardening and being outdoors.
